Telegram Fixes Desktop App Flaw That Leaked IP Addresses in Calls

A security researcher named Dhiraj Mishra recently discovered a flaw in Telegram Messenger for Windows and Telegram for Desktop which leaked the IP address of users during voice calls.

Telegram's desktop client lacked the peer-to-peer (P2P) disabling functionality which routes all calls through Telegram's servers and prevents the leakage of IP addresses, despite being present on the Telegram app for iOS and Android.

The security expert reported the vulnerability to Telegram, after which the company rolled out an update which introduced the P2P disabling functionality on Telegram's desktop clients.
