Android Pie Coming To Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ In January 2019
If you’re the owner of a Samsung flagship device and you’re wondering when the Android Pie update will be arriving for your phone, especially in the face of other manufacturers such as Essential who have already released the Android 9.0 update to their handset, wonder no more as Samsung has confirmed the release schedule for the Galaxy S9 and S9+.
During the Samsung Developer Conference, which also revealed the company’s foldable phone, Samsung also confirmed that Android 9.0 Pie will be making its way to the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in January 2019. This means that users will still have to wait a couple of months before the update arrives, or possibly longer if they’re with a carrier as it will require carrier approval as well.
However the good news is that the beta for the update is expected to begin this month, so if you don’t mind being part of the beta and testing out the update, you can at the very least get an idea of what you might be able to expect. Those who are interested can head on over to Samsung’s website to apply to be part of it. Note that the update will also cover the Galaxy Note 9.
There was no mention of older Samsung devices like the Galaxy S8 or Note 8, but given that they’re still relatively new, we expect that they should eventually be updated as well, so we’ll keep an eye out for any announcements related to either handset.
