Native Android Support For 'Foldable' Smartphones
Google Announces Native Android Support For 'Foldable' Smartphones - With folding displays all set to be a reality in consumer devices next year, Google has announced native support for the feature in Android.
At its Android Developer Summit this week, Google described smartphones with the new form-factor as 'foldables' and said that such devices will have native support from Android going forward.
According to Google's VP of engineering, Dave Burke, the company is "enhancing Android to take advantage of this new form factor with as little work as necessary".
Samsung, LG and others are expected to launch 'foldable' Android devices in 2019 in what's expected to be the first major change in the smartphone form-factor since the launch of the full-touchscreen iPhone in 2007.
